WHAT IS LYFTA?

Lyfta provides the children at St Nicholas the opportunity to go on virtual trips around the world; explore diverse cultures and meet different people through the use of captivating films. They aim to bring connection, understanding and belonging into every classroom through carefully crafted learning experiences which spark inspiration, open minds and expand children's horizons.

LYFTA AT ST NICHOLAS

Lyfta provides the children at St Nicholas CoE the opportunity to build upon their cultural capital by exploring interactive 360° spaces and soundscapes of real locations. Lyfta helps the children to develop their understanding of surrounding themes such as sustainability, well-being, human diversity and compassion, and is ideal for nurturing skills and values such as empathy, resilience, and critical thinking.

Lyfta is used in a variety of ways at St Nicholas' school:

ASSEMBLIES

Children will have fortnightly Lyfta assemblies as well as whole school Lyfta assemblies, exploring different countries and a variety of themes.

LYFTA CHALLENGES

There are three of these held a year. These Lyfta challenges invite the children to unleash their thirst for knowledge at home and to explore a whole host of themes in a family setting - everyone has a story to tell and it brings opportunity for new conversations and shared learning, outside of the classroom too.

LYFTA LUNCH CLUB

Once a week club members will meet at during lunch and explore different themes.

During spring term we have had the theme of 'Food' where food from different cultures has been the focal point of our exploration. It has enables club members to discover a world of culinary delights that they previously have not had the opportunity to and in doing so has taught them to embrace and use all of their senses! Next term, new members will be using Lyfta Lunch club to follow the theme of exploration and get the views of peers throughout school to create a Lyfta 'movie'...watch this space!

LYFTA IN THE CURRICULUM

Lyfta has had a fantastic first year launch here at St Nicholas and we are already looking forward to further embedding it into our curriculum to utilize it's positive contribution to learning here at St Nicholas CoE.
