Physical Education

A high-quality physical education curriculum inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities. It should provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. Opportunities to compete in sport and other activities build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect.

Aims

  • The national curriculum for physical education aims to ensure that all pupils:

  • develop competence to excel in a broad range of physical activities

  • are physically active for sustained periods of time

  • engage in competitive sports and activities

  • lead healthy, active lives.

A huge thank you to 5x world record holder The Skipping Ninja for inspiring us today to explore new ways to exercise, persevere through challenges, and most importantly, for making sure all the children had an amazing time! Your energy and enthusiasm was truly contagious!

Abby in year 4 shared the following...
'I loved how he did lots of challenges for us. Try 1 hop, 1 leg, criss cross. I gave it a 9.5 out of 10 as I want even more skipping fun!'

Sports Awards

A selection of pupils from across the school have discussed their feelings around PE and Sport at St Nicholas. It is wonderful to hear such positive views of what we are offering!
