Music
“Music is a universal language that embodies one of the highest forms of creativity. As pupils progress, they should develop a critical engagement with music, allowing them to compose and to listen with discrimination to the best in the musical canon.” (The National Curriculum)
At St Nicholas CoE we believe that music is more than just a subject.
Music fuels emotions, supports our development and is engrained into the culture of our school. Music here, provides opportunities for enjoyment, collaboration, concentration, time management, patience and personal development.
Singing plays a vibrant role in school life and is the bedrock of music in our primary school.
St Nicholas embeds music into the school day, week and year supplementary to the curriculum. It is our wish that as pupils move through the school they experience a variety of opportunities and learn to unlock the power that music can provide.
In addition to class music, regular singing in assemblies, extra-curricular opportunities and instrumental music tuition is offered.
All our instrumental lessons are delivered by music specialists. Both IMS (a choice of instruments) and DC Music (violin) come into school and conduct lessons during the school day.
There is a charge for the music tuition which is payable on a termly basis and the cost is dependent on the amount of time required and the number of children in each group.

A huge thank you to staff and peripatetic teachers for all their hard work practising for and organising such an event.
Friends of Alcester St Nicholas CofE Primary thank you for the great cakes and refreshments!

St Nicholas Choir
Last term St. Nick's Singers had a lot of fun with silly singing games and warm-ups, getting our bodies and voices ready to sing. We learned about singing rounds - how fun (and tricky!) they can be to master and prepared three songs ready for a super performance to families and the whole school. The children did brilliantly and brought many smiles to faces.
Orla - I enjoy coming to choir because I have made new friends and enjoy meeting new people to sing with.
Maya - I have more confidence since joining choir and I enjoy learning new songs.
Amae - Choir is great because I can hang out and sing with my friends.
Ruby - My classmates have been singing our songs too so I feel like I have taught them the songs too.
