Over the summer holidays we had a new sandpit installed for our Opal play. This was kindly donated by Kyle Randall from Bidford Landscapes and MKM Building Supplies. It had been an instant hit with the children. They absolutely love it.

The Friends of Alcester St Nicholas CofE Primary have kindly offered to pay for a protective cover too. We are truly grateful to you all for supporting our Opal project

  • Water Walk - Courageous advocacy

    Thu 20 Jul 2023 Mrs O'Hanlon

On Tuesday 18th July, the children took action for social injustice by taking part in a water walk to the River Arrow. The whole school walked to the shingle beach by the weir to collect water in a bucket and return it to school. They did this to reflect on the journey that many children have to make every day to get water- often not even clean water.

“Clean water for everyone everywhere” is the WaterAid cause that the children voted for and feel passionately about. They wanted to do something that not only raised money, but raised awareness and understanding of what some children must do to have access to a water supply.

To support the event, families donated £1 to twin a toilet in the school with an overseas toilet. Toilet Twinning is a charity that will use our donation to supply sustainable resources for families overseas to build their own toilets and provide education about good hygiene. The school raised enough money to twin 2 of their toilets! There is still time to contribute on ParentPay.

The event was a great success and the children look forward to continuing their mission to speak up and take action on issues of social injustice in the new academic year.

Thank you to Mrs Benson for sharing this year’s Summer Reading challenge with our children during today’s assembly. Hopefully lots of our families will join in this summer

Children aged 4-11 are invited to take part in the Summer Reading Challenge - come into the library this summer to join for FREE! Choose books to read over the holidays – we suggest reading 6 books, but set a challenge that works for you. Come in to the library and tell us about your reading over the holidays and collect stickers and other rewards for each book you read. When you’ve completed your Challenge, you get a free medal and certificate. There are lots of free activities happening at Alcester Library over the summer too – find out more here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/.../alcester-library-amp...
