  • Zones of regulation

Wed 05 Feb 2025 Laura Newell

As part of Mental Health Week, we have been reminding children about the Zones of Regulation and discussing strategies to help them understand and manage their emotions. These colourful zones help children to recognise different feelings, identify which “zone” they are in, and use strategies to self-regulate.

We have explored a range of techniques, such as breathing exercises and movement breaks to support emotional well-being. You may wish to talk to your child about the zones and encourage them to use these strategies at home.

    Reception’s Visit to Alcester Church

This morning, our Reception cohort had a wonderful time visiting the church as part of our learning about “How can people show they belong together?”

The children took part in a pretend wedding, exploring the different aspects of a wedding service and discussing the many ways we show we belong to each other.

A huge thank you to Revd Daniel and Jen Alcester Minster Churches for having us and creating such a memorable experience!

Watch the video to see the joy and learning in action!

The Power of a Good Night’s Sleep

Did you know that regular sleep patterns are essential for your child’s mental, emotional, and physical health?

    Consistent sleep routines:

•Help children feel secure and less stressed.

    •Improve focus, memory, and learning.

    •Boost mood and emotional resilience.

    •Support healthy growth and development.

    Tips for better sleep:

Stick to the same bedtime and wake-up time daily.

Limit screens at least an hour before bed.

Create a calming bedtime routine, like reading or quiet time.

A well-rested child is a happy, thriving child! Let’s make sleep a priority.
